Apple's Home page is currently showing the text 'Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget. Check back here for an important accouncement regarding iTunes.' With clocks marked 7AM (california), 10AM (New York), 3PM (London), 12 (Tokyo) Anyone care to take a guess? Anyone else suddenly get Sting's 'Bring on the Night' in their head? Jon

Very possible - there was much talk of it being available on the 16th but I wouldn't call that a specifically iTunes thing. Maybe there's something new and iTunes-ey that only iOS 4.2 supports? here's hoping it's not just about Airplay, or there's going to be... trouble. Jon

I reckon something social based, Ping and Facebook, or Twitter, or something like that...

It's rumoured to be an iTunes announcement.
Maybe cloud storage? Maybe subscription streaming music (possibly to multiple devices)?

What part of 'Check back here for an important accouncement regarding iTunes.' gave that away I think streaming is more possible than cloud storage. Could storage is a whole legal minefield when you're specifically storing media - the media companies will insist on it being secure etc. Streaming is relatively straightforward, although given we already have netflix, lovefilm, spotify etc etc.. It wouldn't really live up to the billing they're giving it. However Apple have been known to overload the washing machine of hyperbole before now and ended up ankle deep in the soapy suds of disappointment as the soaking sock of opportunity floated by.. Jon

<looks outside> Well, it is pretty cold out there. Maybe hell HAS frozen over... Informed opinion seems to be it's going to be The Beatles on iTunes. While I can see the sort of news value of that, personally I'd find it a bit 'meh'. Jon

Once the Beatles are on iTunes, that will be it for iTunes rumours. Every time there is an iTunes announcement in the offing, the Four Kings of EMI are trotted out as the likely cause, and there has been a huge flurry of interest. There is nothing else that can raise such a large tide of speculation. It would make sense NOT to have the Beatles on iTunes just to maintain a level of interest.

I am in danger of drowning due to the waves of apathy flooding over me at this announcement.
