Hi,
can anyone point me in the direction of a good free text editor? I need to look at some text files and see them in hex and such like to see if there are embedded control characters that shouldn't be there. I used to have a couple on my old laptop but lost them when I had a WIN7 replacement...

I like Notepad++. Notepad++ is definitely free, I use it at home. I used TextPad at work but I'm not sure if that's free? http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
