Core Duo iMac, 10.5.8
Anyone know why the screen brightness keeps resetting itself to full upon a restart or shutdown startup? I've reduced the brightness, restarted and it's still up at full. I've gone in to Sys. Prefs. and made sure it's fully reduced, restarted, and it just keeps coming back at full screen brightness. Anyone have any ideas?

I think that was a known bug, which ought to have been fixed by a firmware update.
The solution, meanwhile, is to keep the brightness level one notch down from full on.

That's no good. It's too bright, I want it at it's dimmest. I'll look for firmware update, thanks. Mark

I think one or two notches up from completely off also works, but as I don't have an iMac in front of me I can't recall. This was the old Bat Cave machines, which were 2009 models.

Glad I could help. It's an odd bug, to be sure.
