I haven't changed to me.com.

I'm guessing the @me.com edress is still gonna remain, does anyone know differently?
Also, I have an extra edress attached to my account, will that be impacted by this iDisk > iCloud change over?

Mark

The me.com is staying. Steve said so in the keynote. the me.com account is used to log into iCloud I use mine to log into iTunes and the App Store etc...

I've a @mac.com account...Not that I want to, but when did people change to @me.com?

IIRC the @mac.com accounts were for when it used to be called .Mac.

When MobileMe replaced it they started using @me.com accounts.

If you already had yours then you will have kept it from back then probably.

I think it was a couple of years ago.

No 'iTunes In The Cloud' for United Kingdom Until 2012

http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/09/no- ... ntil-2012/

Quote:
Music licensing agreements will keep iTunes In The Cloud and iTunes Match out of the hands of UK iTunes users until "at least" the first quarter of next year according to a spokesman for the Performing Right Society, a UK-based organization that represents composers, songwriters and music publishers in that country.

Quoted in The Telegraph, that spokesman said negotiations with Apple were in a "very early stage," and that parties were "a long way off from any deals being signed." A music executive at a major UK record label said "no one expects to see the cloud music service live on this side of the pond until 2012."

Vice president and research director at Forrester Research told The Telegraph "the UK arms of all the major record labels are biding their time and waiting to see how the service affects download sales in the US before they sign up to anything."

The wait for iTunes In The Cloud will be similar in other international countries. For comparison, it took 8 months for the iTunes Music Store to go international after it launched in the United States in October 2003. iTunes Stores in France, Germany and the United Kingdom opened in June 2004 with a further EU expansion following in October of that year.

Typical of the music industry to drag their feet over this.

Yep, looks that way - original piece in the Telegraph, with even more people saying 'not until 2012'.

It appears Apple didn't even bother starting negotiations outside the US until they had all the deals there done.

me.com is now the defaut. Set up MobileMe on iOS and that’s automatically the default send address.

mac.com is, as mentioned, a legacy address for dotMac and before that, for those of us who’ve been around long enough, iTools.

Both me and mac are interchangeable, sending from and receiving to the exact same email account (though, of course, you can use rules/filters to separate them).

As I understand it, this will remain the case for iCloud, making mac.com addresses even more exclusive, relatively speaking.

Typical, but I think welcome. Let the US “beta test” this for six months. While it sounds great, I’m sure the matching process will need considerable fine tuning before it’s close to 100% reliable.

Plus, I think that for the majority of users iTunes in the Cloud fixes a problem that doesn’t exist. That isn't to say that it isn't a good thing, only that a delay is hardly going to stop people buying iOS and OS X devices.

For me the delay is not a problem. I am planning on rescanning my CD collection on to a new drive at a higher bit rate so will consider AAC as an option. I suspect that I will have a lot of music uploaded as I have a lot of music from indie bands, and I have the odd prelease track from some bands that I know.
