Hi all,

Another Sony Vaio laptop wipe and reinstall.
What is it with Sonys and their inability to connect to WiFi networks.
I've had a couple of these now that refuse to connect to WiFi networks that everything else (including troublesome iPads) has no problem with.
Is there a Sony gremlin or trick that I'm missing?
It finds the network, and accepts the password, but never connects properly. I've tried changing channel to to avail.
It does get an IP from the DHCP server, and will ping LAN IPs but nothing past the gateway.
Same issue always, whether it's ISP's free router, or an Apple Airport Express.

Help!
Thanks.

Using Windows 7 by chance?

I had a new Vaio to set up at work last week - connected to WiFi eventually once it gave me the pop-up re. Home/Work/Public choice option. If you end up with "Public or Unknown" then it can block the internet which is very frustrating

I've got 2 Vaios here, both on Windows 7 64-bit and I've never had any problems. Mine is registered on about half a dozen networks and moves smoothly between them.

Mine work on Lancom, AVM, Funkwerk Bintecs, Netgear and Belkin routers with automatic DHCP settings.

It's weird, it refused to work all weekend even though I'd chosen Home network.
Now, for no good reason, as of this afternoon, it's working perfectly, both from hard boot and suspend.
Very strange; all without changing anything on the router or the laptop.

Can't say I'm having any issues with my Vaio's wifi. The wired network on the other hand....
