Adobe flash player not installingand Chrome won't run

Hi,
my PC is still running a bit badly on the web... Old XP machine..
I uninstalled FF7 and I have tried to install Chrome instead but it won't run...it just crashes on start up...
I then tried to reinstall FF7 which went 'ok' but when I try to install the adobe flash plug in this install crashes ???
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! do I need to get a new PC? I don't have any discks to reinstall XP ... I am getting near the end of my tether...
