Is there a straightforward way to burn an ISO file on my Mac?

Create a burn folder, drag files in to it, drag to trash - which'll turn into a burn icon. Job's done.

Or, is it not recognised by Disk Utility? I've a hunch that should burn the ISO.

I did it with Disk Utility (before the other program was mentioned) but have downloaded burn.app for future use.
