Oh, I didn't mean to say they don't last for ages. But like any mechanical device, the teensy hard drives will eventually croak.
My Classic 80GB is still chuntering on. I did a restore over Christmas, mainly because it had obviously become a bit fragmented and took ages to unmount or switch between stuff. I dropped it on a hard floor yesterday, while it was playing a podcast at me, and it didn't skip a beat.
