Oracle releases Java SE 7 Update 4 for OS X: http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2012/ ... upport.ars

Now to find how to remove Apple Java and see how Oracle are going to update it.

Oh, joy. Whenever I start up Windows, I get nagged about a new Java update. I guess my Mac will start niggling me about these on a more frequent basis. If something needs that number of patches, I’m more inclined to not to want to bother with it.

Best unplug all your computers from the interwebs then.
Constant patches seem to be the trade off for having greater connectivity, not just with Java but the OS as well. Plus I'm increasingly convinced some (larger) developers are reasonably happy to push stuff out the door earlier than they should and let the users do the testing (then charge for upgrades to fix the problems they should ahve caught at the alpha/beta stage).
