Just noticed that my iPhone 5 is not ringing when people call. Has anyone else discovered the cause and what they did to fix it.

Well I found a Google thread for the problem, ran through the solutions without success. So have an appointment to fix my iPhone at an Apple store on Thursday, so it will either be fixed or I get a new iPhone.

Does it still vibrate or is it totally silent?

It actually vibrates even when vibrate is not a checked option. Googled the problem and found and Apple discussion forum and it has happened elsewhere. Lots of google results. So before I got put through to Apple I had already restored it as a new iPhone and made a test call, without success. Then restored it as my iPhone and called Three. Basically because I did a lot of checks before calling it was easy to get them to decide on the Apple inspection, rather than running through them again.

I should clarify. In settings I can hear and set ringtones and it will vibrate even though vibrate is not an option. I can play music through garage band and the radio app. So the speakers are working. One app does not play audio either. So hit and miss as to what actually plays sounds or doesn't.

Easiest solution.

Back up the phone, book in for a Genius appointment and take it there.

If it's an intermittent problem they'll more than likely replace it for a new one.

It's not that Do Not Disturb bug? Is there a little moon next to the time at the top of the screen?

I did all that. It was during a drink with a friend who discovered that I had the mute button on. That fixed the problem. So cancelled the appointment.

Yes definitely a face palm moment.
