There's a picture of it in a glass of water and yet no comment about that. Have they finally made use of the hydrophobic coating stuff that has been more and more in the news.

Quite frankly all mobiles especially smart phones should come with waterproofing included.

I saw a piece on Click I think where someone had developed a process to waterproof basically anything. Essentially you put whatever you wanted to waterproof in something that looks like a small oven. That oven was filled with an ionised gas at high(ish) temperature, which caused a nanoscopically thin layer of gas molecules to adhere to the surface of whatever it was. That made the thing waterproof, at least for a period (long exposure in water would dissolve away the molecular coating) while still allowing things like USB plugs and even touchscreens to still work. Quite impressive.

I think I saw that, and it would not add much to the cost. Considering how many are dropped into toilets it would make sense especially for high end smartphones.
