http://www.techradar.com/news/software/ ... ly-1174071Reminded me of Vista, putting it on hardware it shouldn't have been near. My family have 8 on a few laptops now and they've all either been made to run like 7 or are having 7 put on them

Click on desktop boom and youd never know you werent in 7. No need to worry that the screen you may have is not touchscreen. Even the lamented loss of the start button is a non issue that for anyone with half a brain becomes irrelavent after a small amount of time. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4

You, me, and even my dumb father know that, but people who 'just want it to work' are MS's bread and butter on the consumer side.

Windows 8 is brilliant on my non-touch PC. I wouldn't swap back to Windows 7 for anything.
It sounds like it was written by somebody who never really used Windows 8 in anger.

Touch screen only would be a really silly idea.

I dislike windows 8 on my wife's laptop, but if it was mine, I'd install Start8. I think that would deal with the issues I have. It's not like there's anything wrong under the hood.

Installed start8 and pretty much don't see the metro that we shouldn't call metro interface.
Th thing that winds me up most is how long the windows games take to load and having to sign in using xboxlive for them. It's just a casual game to kill a few minutes not a marketing opportunity.

You only get the advertising on the daily challenges and you can get rid of the adverts by paying for the daily challenges. To be fair, somebody somewhere has to come up with those challenges and they have to be paid, so I can live with it. The lack of adverts is the biggest problem, seeing the same advert all month long gets very boring. Taptiles is brilliant, if you are using a touch screen. It really shows what you can do to make a touch orientated game.
