Upgraded my iMac this morning, haven't noticed any differences yet...

Boinc had to be reinstalled and I am having problems with safari probably because of an extension, so will resolve that over the next few days.

Well boinc is working again, after being reinstallled. Safari is now working but I will reapply the extensions slowly to see what is the problem. I am only using 1Password extension right now so will add the rest gradually. Mail was slow but editing the smart mailboxes solved that problem. I only read mail in smart boxes and the mail was being filtered but not getting added to the smart mail box, where I could find it all together. Gradually everything is getting resolved.

Apple aluminium keyboard choked Mavericks... Got to work this morning and the Mac was clicking away on auto repeat. Pressing escape allowed me to log on, but then it started again. A reboot didn't help either. In the end I pulled the plug and stuck it back in, after that it seemed okay.

When installing Mavericks, it seems "less than a minute remaining" actually means "go off and make a cup of tea, I'm going to be here a while".

Mine halted around the 34 minutes to go and the other machine overtook it and was up and running before the 34 minutes progressed any further. I did a restart and got it to finish the install.

Bizarrely my iPad is saying finishing sync for ages after everything is copied across. There must be a bug somewhere in iTunes. I am gradually fixing all the changes but it is taking time. Programs like Finder and Safari work differently so it is all confusing for me.

After an almost entirely tongue in cheek Facebook post, a friend has actually loaned me the money. This is now being typed on my nice shiny new MBP.

My question is "What's the catch?"
I've never been convinced that it's a good idea to lend money to friends or family due to the potential strain it places on the relationship, at least not an amount that would cause any problems if it didn't come back.
