We have a Mac at work, where the user keeps getting "Updating identity" when he starts Outlook 2011 (fully patched, talking to Exchange Server 2010). He has an iMac and a MacBook Pro Retina, this only happens on the Retina.
The "official" MS answer is to rebuild the identity and/or delete the preferences. We've done this, the problem went away for a couple of days and now it is back again. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only solution to the problem.
The Updating Identity takes between 5 and 10 minutes every time the MacBook is restarted and during that time the machine is working pretty much at full tilt and he can't do much else with it.
Rebuilding the database takes much longer and it is not a task that I relish having to do on a regular basis.
Anybody come across this and found a more permanent solution?
