I can appreciate that but do you really want the company to know what music you listen to? There are times when I do not want to be contacted and so an iPod will allow me to listen to what I want without the risk of being interrupted.

Thank you, I was wondering where I'd seen that before!

it complies totally with EU ruling. It is a standard usb3 connector allowing faster charging and data transfer and is also backwards compatible with the usb2 micro cable.

After reading the reviews I was pretty much decided on getting S5 to replace my Nexus 4 (I want a 4g phone).
However today I went to shop to see it and hold it in my hand and I really hate the way it looks. I don't mind the plastic back (it is actually nice), but front is fugly! Especially the chromed piece of plastic on the edge, it looks so cheap! Which is really a shame, because it seem like a great phone in all other aspects.
I think I will buy HTC One instead, even despite the hit-and-miss camera.

I got one of these the other day and after a few days of use I still like it. It's faster and smoother than the s4 and no sign of lag in any app. As usual with android once signed into Google getting my apps was easy. The flatter less cumbersome Samsung "additions" to android are not too jarring when compared to vanilla. The fingerprint scanner works well and so far has only failed when I've tried to scan at a stupid angle, whilst not as good an implimentation as Apples it is still good and not a car crash some people have hoped. The screen is a bit bigger than the S4 but is still a great screen. As for memory out of the box the phone OS uses 4.12gb but as I've stuck a 32gb sd card in there's plenty of room for my apps and media.
As for the funky charge port. It's covered by a little cap to keep dust and water out and the phone will remind you to close it. The phone comes with a micro usb2 charger so to get the quicker data transfer you would have to buy the usb3 cable.
Camera appears to be quite nice the faster focusing is a very nice addition and helps when you want to take quicker snaps.
Overall it's a very nice phone maybe not a fantastic upgrade from the S4 but from the S3 or similar types of phone I would heartily say go for it.

The fingerprint scanner is just as hackable as the iPhone. As always, biometrics are a replacement for usernames, they are not a replacement for passwords.

What's the 'fall back' setup? Just that I recently managed to burn my thumb and that meant the iPhone scanner wouldn't recognise it until it healed. If I hadn't set an unlock code as well, I might have had problems. Same as my old Xperia Z. In the end I got fed up with fiddling with the cover on that and bought a dock that allowed it to charge without opening the port. Does the S5 support wireless charging? Might be a better option.

When you register a finger you also have to set an alternate password. As for wireless charging you'd need to get a new cover for the back.
