Hey, I have here a Win2008 server on which explorer crashes every time i right click a file or folder. I can right click other stuff like the desktop and taskbar happily though.

I tried shexview to see if it was a dodgy shell extension, but apart from a single f-secure extension, all the rest are MS. I disabled the f-secure one, but feel disinclined to sod around with the MS ones...

The crash message indicates a problem with ntdll.dll, must I restore that?

I'm not sure why but the little voice in my head is telling me that you might want to check out the "SendTo" folder, (which I believe is held in the Documents and Settings\Username folder)

I've just had a quick look at the contents of my SendTo folder, and there are 4 entries:

desktop.ini
Mail Recipient
My Documents
Desktop (create shortcut)

It may well be worth creating a temporary folder on your desktop and moving, (not copying) any other entries to that, (in fact it might be worth moving EVERYTHING) and seeing if the right click still crashes it.

Assuming all goes well try moving one item at a time back to the SendTo folder, until it stops working.

Obviously I might be talking rubbish, but the voice in my head is quite insistent... :|

also check within folder options (i think) and tick 'open explorer as a separate process' it stops a lot of explorer crashes

also if its available on the server version use SFC to repair any files …
