The optical drive in my MBP is very picky as to what it will play.

Some things play with no problems and some will not load and get ejected.

It is not something that sometimes happens for a CD and then it will work it always works and doesn't work with the same CDs.

They are not scratched (I just bought the new Robbie Williams album and this won't play).

Any ideas?!

Well, I just got it to work by pressing my thumb up underneath the drive. (I had tried everything else :D)

No probs.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to test it. I'd have been screwed if I bought it before realising it didn't work in my PC :(

I've sold stuff to people before that for some reason didn't work, so if I think I can trust them, I don't take payment up front. Sometimes its just incompatability, if your mate wants that vid card, its still going.

Is your Superdrive fixed now anyway ?

If I apply just the right amount of pressure in bending the drive downwards then it accepts the disc and I can let go :D

I guess it's a quirk I'm going to have to live with :(

Seems like a visit to the Mac shop for a replacement drive to me. Will only get worse as time goes on.
I would think the reading head is out of line with the disc.

I can't understand why it always works with some discs though?!

I agree though, replacement seems like the way forward.
