I really want an ATI 5 series, but I'm gonna wait until March when nVidia release Fermi and see what happens to the market (and ATI's prices). In the meantime, I want a £30ish, passively-cooled GPU with HDMI out. There's no Blu-Ray to worry about. Just 720p mkvs and general Windows 7ness. But I'm guessing it needs HDCP as my mates laptop hooks up to my TV without issue and he's running Vista with a 9400 GS. Was looking at this:

Thoughts? Any better ideas? Green team worth a look?

i wouldnt waste money on the 1GB version, 512MB will be plenty enough.

im not totally sure about this, but its my understanding nvidia cards can accelerate more formats than ATi's, might be worth looking at :?

Got a 1GB 9500gt if you want to buy it :)
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-Pali ... IVE-H-Sink

I got it for my HTPC but as a dual slot it stops me using a second tuner card, which would be good on a u-ATX board, it has onboard HDMI too :)

It's in my HTPC now but if you want it I can take it out whenever (and go back to onboard VGA)

Thanks Fin, but I need ATI for audio over HDMI. So it looks like I'll be getting the 4350.

Most nvidia cards let you run an s/pdif cable from your board to the card to output sound over hdmi (beter quality that the ATi solution)

Yep :)

Little cable connects from the SPDIF header on the motherboard/sound card to the graphics card then use the built in HDMI out

Would this 4550 do you at £29?

clicky

I've no idea on what it's like but a 4550 is surely an improvement over a 4350?

Only 1 left at the mo, £4 shipping I think.

Oh. Didn't know that, and ordered the bloody thing now!

Nevermind, if I want proper quality, I'll go straight to my amp when I upgrade the m/b audio (if I ever do).

Most of my watching atm is just stereo, so who cares.
