Hm, a bit of a botched installation here. Mac rebooted and got stuck on a blue screen with a loading circle. Forced reboot seemed to bring the system up though, and OS X reports it is now 10.6.2....

Well it fixed my enough of my computer problems to solve the rest. My mail finally closes quickly and without hanging. The one thing that annoys me is that it does a secure empty from the trash which can take ages.

try onyx it will allow you to disable that secure empty for the trash …

TBH I am not so worried about it. It is a little time consuming when you delete a lot of files. Though if I were paranoid I would leave it alone just in case.
