He has an old iMac but forgot the password (yes i know dont start) Is the a way to reset it or get past it .

Yeah - stick in the OS Installation disc, restart from that (holding down 'C' at start up) and there's an option on one of the menu's to reset the password, IIRC.

You should be able to use any Mac OS X install disk IIRC, if you can get hold of one. Otherwise if there is another Admin account on the machine you should be able to use that to change the pass?
Excuse the noobiness but how do i log into the admin account.

There isn't one by default. In Windows you can have admins and normal users, the same thing happens in OS X. They might be called Admin, Bob, Dude, God, whatever... It depends if the person who's Mac it is set up an extra account with admin privileges??
