Someone I know has a problem... I can't go into too many details, as this could get legal, but basically their laptop was taken and their documents, etc were burnt to a CD and then, (in the words of the person who is bringing me the laptop) the disk was wiped.
The person bringing the laptop is not IT literate, so that could mean that the files have been deleted or the drive has actually been wiped, but I'm after suggestions as to what recovery software I should try...
I'm guessing something I can put onto a CD/DVD and boot from, in order to prevent accidental overwrite problems, and I'm looking for stuff now, but if you kind people have any suggestions that would be great.
Thanks.

If you can find a copy get data back always works for me . skype me for more if you want.

I advised the person that I could help if she'd bring the laptop over, but she's been twice and not bought it, so I'm guessing it can't be that important...
Thanks anyway, there was some good advice there, and hopefully someone else will find the information useful one day.
