Good day to all,

My experience of Linux lasts for the entirety of five minuties but I would like to install it on the PS3. As far as I can see the option is Ubuntu 7.10 however will the latest 9.10 run on the PS3 too?

Has anyone else done this yet and when the PS3 boots is the option to chose either OS presented or will the PS3 OS load by default?

Hobgob.

EDIT: It transpires that Ubuntu 9.10 has been ported to the PS3.

See here: http://psubuntu.com/wiki/UbuntuVersions

You can also tell the PS3 what OS you want to boot by default, and you will have the option to change OS (the PS3 firmware remains intact).

Thanks for the link I will have a read around on that site.

Regarding the PS3 OS - so if I leave it set to default can I select Ubuntu from the ps3 menu and the ps3 will reboot into that? Then restart the PS3 and it will go back to the PS3 OS.

Sorry I'm just trying to get my head around how its done - e.g. Boot menu on a PC - arrow keys - enter.

Yes from the XMB menu there'll be an option to boot into the Other OS, the PS3 will then reboot into Ubuntu. If you then reboot from Ubuntu you'd go back to the PS3 OS.
