Jeez, 3-stars based on the fact that it shows promise. Despite no apps, no email, no content (apart from, oops my browser crashed, Flash), “less than thrilling” movies, no dedicated developer API (everything is emulated and we know how well that works), poor battery life compared to iPad despite much smaller screen, poor cameras… So, in conclusion: “if RIM is successful in luring developers to the platform, and apps like Skype and Facebook appear, the PlayBook has the makings of a useful tablet.” But there is no API, ergo no platform. In fact since PlayBook was released, developer interest has declined: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/ap ... per-surveySad to day, but it’s a complete flop.

The review states a resolution of 1200x600 yet the BB website says 1024x600?

I still can't get my head round why they launched so soon. Your core market are the BB users. As it's pretty tied into the BB architecture, I doubt if many people would be swayed by changing they phone in order to get the tablet. Make it an irresistible addition to the BB experience. Maybe I'm wrong. But honestly, you're not beating anyone to market. So focus on what matters to your market and damn well make sure you can deliver that, and do it well. Don't leave room for all the problems that are oh-so evident. Don't just rush it out and [LIFTED] it up because you think you need to be competing with the iPad/Android tablets. It can't be that hard, can it?

One faulty batch, is it really news worthy? I would be more worried if they needed bumpers to work Anyway, prices are out, wifi models will cost the same as ipad2. Available from 16th June. Shame I don't need one...

 | | | | Quote: RIM Sells 250,000 PlayBooks In First Month
In a note to clients, RBC analyst Mike Abramsky said he believes sales of RIM's PlayBook tablet are steady so far after its first month in the market. Since its April 19 launch in the U.S., Abramsky thinks RIM has moved about 250,000 PlayBooks. Further, he believes RIM is on track to sell 500,000 PlayBooks by the end of the quarter.
If RIM is truly selling the PlayBook this steadily, then it is off to a much better start than Motorola's Xoom tablet, which runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb. During its most recent quarterly report, Motorola indicated that it shipped 250,000 Xooms, but it didn't reveal how many went to actual customers rather than simply fill the channel. | | | | |

Android apps on your PlayBookWill this be the silver bullet for Rim and the Playbook? I personally love this tablet in its current state. I've spend some time playing with it in shops and the lack of apps it the only issue I can see.
