Is this part of studies or part of work or what? Because it sounds like you need to ask for help either way.

Something along those lines, assuming that you have given us the correct relationships. Without an entity relationship diagram or the database structure to look at, it is hard to say, whether that is accurate or not.

It's not on the uni unix boxes, so it's a no-go.

It was the comment about being overkill and locking you into windows.... it doesn't

Oh ok, well yes, it doesn't *lock* you in, but the last time I looked mono development was behind MS .Net development by quite a way (although this was .Net 2.0 sort of time). I still think it's overkill to write a .Net console app compared to a quick script in python. You're perfectly entitled to your view, mind.

Well i've found a handly little module called pymssql though I can't for the life of me make it work. Guess i'll keep drudging on. I'm fully aware that I need help, but most of the helpful staff are away on holiday, and those that aren't on holiday can't help me! There aren't any staff left in the department who specialise in SQL anymore (last guy just left) and he was also the guy that specialised in Python. Woe is me, cos he really knew what he was talking about. Didn't realise the situation was so dire to be honest, it's really struck me how impossible this is to actually do without an experience. It said specifically that this course was for people with no background in computing - a complete lie!
