Late reply, but I just noticed this and it made me chuckle. Everyone has the exact same experience. The camera on the newer iPhone is much better for snapping things because it's much faster, although I neither know nor care what the numbers say about pixels.

My solution for shooting kids is to just use the video instead. Obviously it's restricted to a lower resolution, but it's surprisingly good even in typical lounge lighting and the still frames are fine for posting on Facebook.

You're right but the phone market is faster than most in general, and the Android phone market is the fastest of all, IMO. Even more than digital cameras. Between HTC and Samsung it seems there's a new Android phone out about every two weeks...

And most of them come from htc, I think that is htc's problem at the moment, they have so may different models, even at the top end, that none of them get to build a name for themselves, they also don't have a "range" in the same was that Samsung does with the Galaxy or Apple with the iPhone.

They need to make fewer phones at each level and leave them on the market for longer.

BTW, I played a Galaxy Nexus yesterday. The screen was nice, I couldn't see the "pentile" effect, but it had a security cable attached by a double sided sticky pad on the back - which had broken the back, every time you pulled the Nexus out of its holder on the display, the back ripped off - to the extent that it was held to the phone by a double-sided sticky pad! htc have the quality of the products, but they don't make the sexy super slim and they don't leave them on the market long enough for them to gain a reputation.
