Well, well, it comes to something when you can't even rely on the rumours!! I don't know, what's the world coming to?

I suspect there won't be any new Macs until Lion has been released. Whether or not new macs will accompany Lion on the same day is anyone's guess. Given Apples enthusiasm for controlling the buzz there could even be a little delay just so they get Lion out of the door.

Also they stagger releases so any problems with one release does not overwhelm the teams trying to resolve them. If they have Lion settled then if there are problems with a new mac they know that the problems are restricted to that and not necessarily Lion.

<obvious troll comment> But there can be no problems. Don't they just work?

Yes but even Apple have the occasional problem.

Who cares? I do not, and I have lots of Apple kit.

I note you now can't buy a Mac Mini with an internal DVD drive, they're all 'blank fronted'. You'll have to buy one of those external superdrive thingies (or just buy a USB dvd writer from PC world for about half the price).
And no new mac pro...

Not a total shock. Unless they're totally shifting the chip they use they'll have to wait for volume of the new Xeon E5-1600 and E5-2600 chips and associated chipsets to be available from Intel and as far as I can tell they won't be available until into Q3 (September/October time?). I also notice that on the new Mini you have to decide whether you want to connect a normal DVI/dual link DVI display (and loose Thunderbolt) or have to go with Apples display and keep the Thunderbolt port (pass through from the display). I suppose you could use a monitor that connects via HDMI.

Given you can get HDMI<->DVI adapters for a relatively reasonable sum and the relative scarcity of Thunderbolt peripherals (and the likelihood that most of them aren't going to be 'consumer' devices anyway) it's not likely to be a huge issue. I doubt anyone with two 30" monitors to use as a display and/or multiple Thunderbolt peripherals is really the Mac Mini's target market, somehow. Jon
