You may find it easier to import into Outlook Express on the new PC and then import into Outlook. I've not done it in a while.

In the end I threw the old machine out the window and ignored all of the email on it

I couldn’t get outlook to recognize express saved files, the only way I could get my Express files into outlook07 was to drag them over from a folder I’d created.
I selecting all my emails and folders in express and dragging them into a desktop folder. Used a usb pen to transfer the folder then drag them into outlook07.
You’ll be able to read them but the format is not the same so some info may be missing.
Have you tried using outlook live as an alternative? That uses the same save file format as express.
