I'm using the WDTV Live box and WD MyBook Live NAS drive combo for streaming. It works.

:D

Right. Decided to take the plunge and go on a spending spree.

In theory WD Live Streaming + NAS should mean fun times. Am looking at the newest Synology DS213+ with either 2TB or 3TB drives. Any recommendations on the HDD? Have decided to use two external (IDE, I think) HDDs for back up of files instead.

What did you go for in the end re. NAS and hard drives?

My father has asked me to convert his LP's into a digital format for him so was looking at getting a NAS and streaming it on that for him.

Synology have just upgraded their stuff to include Airplay support (and it looks much nicer). I can now 'throw' a film or such from my Synology NAS through my media mac onto my TV. It's the future! Plus I found out there's an app that turns it into a DVR is you buy the the right USB tuner.

One of the best bits if kit I've ever bought, frankly. Not the same model as yours but that's kind of irrelevant since they all run the same software.

Was away for a bit so missed the post.

Nas = synology ds213+
hdd = seagate 3TB Barracuda 64MB 7200RPM HDD

Works fine and I can stream video from nas to my iphone if it's in m4a format. If you get one ofthe more powerful ones, it'll do on the fly encoding too.

The wd tv live streaming box will play whatevers on the hdd to my tv.
