If it won't work with the built in wifi manager, there are plenty of alternative apps on the market that can do different stuff. That could be worth a look. I'm not sure if it'll like a hidden SSID as I don't do that at home.

There's a free app called hidden ssid enabler in Google Play. I can't vouch for it though as there is no good reason to be burying ssid.

Erm... why are you hiding your SSID? All it does is make connections a PITA for no increase in security whatsoever. It's a bit like painting over your house number in order to deter burglars...

- It's not going to happen - the vast hordes of drive-by hackers don't really exist
- Nobody's going to hack your network if your neighbour's is easier.
- Anyone good enough to get in your network isn't going to be put off by a hidden SSID.
- It's the passphrase and encryption method that'll keep them out. Use the best security settings you can (WPA2-AES or similar) with a nice long & strong, non-dictionary passphrase.
- If possible use MAC filtering to block connections to everything except certain devices.
- Check your network logs every couple of weeks or so.

The SSID name might not be broadcast, but there are still packets going back and forth between the base station and your computers, hi-fi etc. These are "in the open" and a packet sniffer will be able to get the SSID name. Windows 7 will even inform you about hidden networks by default. http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/ ... kName.html

If you are using WPA2 with a good passphrase (over 20 characters), then you shouldn't have any problems. The data itself is encrypted and WPA2 has not yet been cracked, so "forcing" the connection would take several millenia.
The SSID is usually sent in the clear in the packet header.

hiding your ssid actually increases the idle chatter making it faster to crack the encryption. As if anyone is trying anyway...

Cat 5 is much better!
If you still wanna try alternatives, I use Wifi Manager and Wifi Analyzer on my Galaxy Note.
