So basically an app launcher then. Thanks for that. I remember spending hours restructuring my start menu under Windows 95 to group together apps that I used regularly into the top menus. Though under OSX that option is not available but by using an app launcher I only need to know the name of the app to be able to launch it. Excel only requires two letters and a return to load. My news reader can be done with one since I use it a lot and it is at the top of the search tree. People need to find other routes to launch apps.
