I have Sky plus and a digital tuner by Hauppauge so had to install a Quad LNB on the dish, everything works fine. LUXE HD is a bit boring though and BBC HD looks like sd.

Unfortunately shipping from germany is another 23 euros and the last time I bought from ebay germany I had to send the card back as it was faulty .. ended up costing far more than a brand new card bought in the UK ...

Still very tempting though ..

It's still cheaper than the £80 the UK seller wants... and he bought a load from the german seller to sell in the UK anyway.

So this Pinnacle thing, does it do HD?

Is there no difference with PCI cards these days? Is it not like with a "set-top-box" where you get SD ones and HD ones?

As your PC does the decoding SD or HD depends on what codecs & processing power you have.

With set-top boxes the HD ones are more powerful so cost more.

The Pinnacle one should do HD fine.

It will 'do' HD over satellite . dvb-s. Currently only BBC-HD and an iffy ITV-HD.
It will not 'do' the recently announced dvb-t HD (through aerial).

edit -- correct me if i am wrong sas but i believe this to be correct --

HTH

You are correct, DVB-T2HD is aerial not satellite
