Nah, the motherboard was bust, well I'm guessing, wouldn't POST, no matter what I tried, so I replaced the motherboard, and I now have this problem..

but you're still using the same OS installation. That's why it's erroring, it's loading the wrong drivers & freaking out. Put in the Windows CD & repair the installation or get the data off and start again.

That sounds like an excellent idea... Oh wait, didn't someone already suggest that? Sometimes I swear it's like being at home... Nobody listens to me there either.

I've tried using a CD, I've tried Win7, Vista, XP and Ubuntu, every time I boot from CD I lose signal to my monitor...

Clear the CMOS, unplug & reseat everything, change the optical drive or cable.

Trying with a VGA monitor and IDE DVD drive now, fingers crossed...
Fooking ACE!!! I get an output now!! Awesome!
EDIT -
Okay, I can get it to boot from CD...or so I thought....I press the space bar when it says to press any key to boot from CD...I do, and then I get the same error TRAP thing as before...Just pure WTF....
EDIT 2 -
Okay, weird problem, if I try to boot with a windows disc in, I get the TRAP error....if I try to boot with Ubuntu in, I lose signal...regardless of monitor...

I would, but I now have no monitor to try it with, my sister needed to do her homework...(read: Facebook), so I'm pissed off with it, and tempted to sell it...

Okay, managed to sort my monitor problem out, the PC still has the same problem with one stick on RAM installed.
Right, if I unplug the HDD with windows installed, I get the same TRAP error....And googling is just, futile. If the motherboard is haggard, God help whoever picks up the phone when I RMA it.

Have you tried changing which stick of RAM is installed and in which slot?

Yeah, tried two different sets of RAM, and I've tried a few combinations of slots and different sticks, to no avail..

Have you tried a bare-minimum-CPU-1-RAM-GFX-Optical-Drive build? I presume it POSTs OK?
