It is amazing how often even experts overlook the obvious, because the settings look correct. Also, informing us which method of authentication the SMTP server was expecting would help reduce the number of possible solutions to those that are more pertinent. It was not meant as ridicule, just a way to get pertinent information. This is essentially what I said. It looks like O2 have turned off SMTP relaying, which is often misused by spammers. Have you tried either of the recommended fixes? Did either of them work?

Exactly as o2 told me to originally ie:- mail.o2.co.uk......smtp.o2.co.uk
Which worked perfectly but all of sudden will receive but not send ...... Though the Microsoft Test Message is sent ok... and received ok.
I have set up 3 other E:Mail providers using mail.o2.co.uk......smtp.o2.co.uk and no problem at all.

Solution is now at hand Have never done this before even with o2, but have done it now and can now send E:Mails. After setting up in the normal way do the following... Click on More Settings...Select the Servers tab...Select the Log On Using option... enteryour o2 E:Mail address as the user name... and your o2 password in the password field...tick Rember Password Field ... Click OK and you are done.

I'm so tempted to ask why nobody here suggested checking the server settings... but I shall resist the temptation! Glad it's working

Methinks his irony metre isn't working Anyway, it's (his Outlook) working and let's hope the O.P reads this and sticks around
