I mean is it a client like the Google system - where you can connect to any server. Actually, now I think of it the Google system may only be a POP client.

Still, it's a handy feature and without it I don't think I could move to MobileMe, should it become free.

Well just started using the mobile me web mail beta. Give it a few days and i'll let you know what i think. Anyone else using it?

As of today yes. The server side rules seem to work fine (although they're a bit primitive) and the webmail is much improved, although I do wish I could remove the viewing pane altogether.
