I repaired permissions on a slow mac yesterday and he said it was all good today. Fixes a multitude of sins.

If I remember I may repair Polly's permissions tonight. She's been slowing down over the last year, a bit.

Apart from rotating log files, checkting temp dirs, etc, I'm not sure.

You haven't turned on process accounting in Onyx have you? That could do it possibly...One would presume that CPU and memory look OK? My Mac Pro runs really crappy with 700+% CPU free, but only 10MB RAM free :P

I’ve just done a clean install of Snow Leopard and it’s made a huge, positive difference to performance and stability.

How so?

(Not trolling - I really would like to know)

Just done a second re-install (I made the mistake of letting TimeMachine restore ALL my data last time and I ended up in the same mess I started with). This time, Flash seems to work and I'm only restoring my actual files, not user or system settings, re-doing all of those manually, a pain, but it seems to be working...

So far, it seems to be more responsive and, as I said, Flash finally works.
