...well there is your problem! XP has sucked for nearly a decade now. Blinkin insecure fisher-price crap. Prone to unexplained pauses, registry corruption, a stupid start menu and looks that make you want to vomit! Vista was a lot better but a bit buggy, SP1 made it a great OS...Windows 7 has brought the pre-SP1 bugs back, along with the stupid taskbar...<<sigh>>

I'd say the problem isn't the version of Windows, it's the fact that it's Windows. Like I said, MS has had two decades to work out how to write a GUI and they still don't quite get it. I truly think they should just go back to DOS as I think that's where the hearts and heads are.

That's not what people like you were saying when OS X was pissing all over XP.

What do you mean people like me?! I've always hated XP, even when I was habitually winding mac users up, got rid of XP on Vista launch day, GPU drivers or no GPU drivers, XP was going and it hasn't been installed since, not even in a VM.

I use PC's every day at work.
Finally pretty much all running Win XP Pro.
A couple of bits of kit still use Win 95 as the software validation process required for a GLP environment is long, tedious and not that easy to fit around doing actual work. 95, or rather the software running on it, is a bit flaky on the liquid scint counters and periodically hangs and borks up a set of counts. Very annoying.
XP is vastly better although the IT department has it so tightly locked down that we can't even change the screen resolution. Plus my login has taken to randomly duplicating drives and filling up my drive letters much to my and the IT departments consternation.

I'm using Windows XP right now.

On my very own PC. :o

I got it from a friend and it's running TinyXP. I need it to write a program for my uncle who needs a bit of software written for his business.

Oh the things we do for family.

Yeah the only way to make XP last is never install any programs on it or delete any or do any updates. That way the registry survivies. If you do any of the former, it slows, them breaks. Vista doesn't do this though of course.
