Just download VLC for free from the app store. Or use Handbrake to rip your movies to mp4. I forgot DivX was still knocking about.

VLC won't be available on the App store for much longer (licensing issues), and using Handbrake to convert videos is looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

PS. Isn't the compression and quality (for the file size) for DivX also superior to MPEG-4 anyway?

iPod still can't really handle HD video even if it is converted to a friendly format

No, but then like I said I'm far more interested in the Blackberry Playbook.

I am getting cautiosly optimistic about the Playbook.

BlackBerry PlayBook and iPad Comparison: Web Fidelity

I have high hopes for the new QNX OS, it seems like a step in the right direction.

Why'd you want HD on a tiny display anyway? :?

So you can watch it *now* rather than re-encoding a sh*t load of video for the *special* device that can't play *normal* files?

The main reason I don't really watch any video on my phone is simply because I CBA to convert it on the PC first... but then, my Nokia isn't supposed to be smart

Native downscaling, no need to re-encode + lower bitrate, easier to copy to/from source and no need to re-encode it

And IF the Galaxy Tab supports it (the Galaxy S does... but only SD) output to a TV

They're going for that much in my local Tesco.

The Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S line of phones are officially receiving a Gingerbread update. Samsung put out a press release this morning breaking the update news. According to the release, the update will begin to roll out in the UK and Nordic countries mid-May. Soon after, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, Middle East Asia, and Africa should follow.

Not the latest piece of the hardware but I guess at £269.98 some people might be tempted, what do you think?

Also this is quite be big thing from Sammy, in the past the were not so keen to issue updates for old models of phones. Maybe they are trying to improve their image since everybody and their dog is coming out with Androids stuff...
