you have to accept it'll need charging more than a POS nokia

Why?

Surely if they just put bigger batteries in them, that wouldn't HAVE to be the case?!

Indeed.

And why does not being a status symbol make a Nokia a POS?

I think we're all agreed that just because it's been loosely labelled a POS phone it doesn't actually mean it's a POS... If all I needed was to make calls and send texts then I'd still have a Nokia 3310 and I would only have to charge it once a fortnight, but as I need more from my "mobile computing device" these days, it's sadly not an option.

I think that's what Sas meant...

I've had a Nokia 3300 for so many years I can't even remember.

I think it's amazing that the same model of phone is still going strong after so long. Why? Because it's indestructible, reliable, well evolved, easy to use, plenty of apps, has good battery, good signal and good sound quality and does everything a lot of people need from a phone. The Gmail client even looks the same as the mail client on my new 'droid!

There are some days I'd rather use one than the other. I don't want to give my 'droid back, but the Nokia is a damned site more convenient to use as a phone.
