I think the Mac Pro needs a rethink and a server format would definitely be a rethink.

As for the new iMacs, seriously awesome.

I doubt the Mac Pro will see any revisions until intel brings out the next Xeon platform which won't be until Q3 or Q4 this year.
If anything, Apple is moving away from server platforms (as with the cancelation of the xserve and integration of the server version of OS X into Lion).

I certainly think the Mac Pro needs a bit of a rethink and would really like to see a tower model with i5/i7 processors & pci-e slots sitting alongside the iMac and below the Pro (which should stick with the Xeon line). I doubt it'll happen though. Given that Apple killed the xserve I doubt we'll see a sensible rack-mount option any time soon either.

Veato - is this discount summat I can get

It's discount through a work benefit package. On the top spec iMac (no upgrades) it works out at £99 cheaper

Always worth checking if you or someone you know is allowed educational discount. For me....

Which is worth having. Anyone working or studying in further or higher education can qualify, pretty much.

I'm out of luck there unless Nicola qualifies through doing her degree modules at work (she gets an NUS card) but her next module isnt for another year. She gets NHS discount through work too but I think it's the same as what I get.

I suspect that would be good enough to get something. Does she actually go to a college at all, or is it all 'in house'? if she does PM me which one, I can check if it's on the list.

Apple financial loans page- which has a monthly payment calculator on it. Not exactly easy to find. The consumer program is apparently the same as the professional one, but all loans are fixed 3 year term. Quick comparison with high street banks suggests... it's a pretty good deal but you might be able to get better.

Apple finance - 36 payment loan of £2000 (minimum a lot of banks will loan you) - £71.24
Money Supermaket best bet - £65.39

The Apple deal was better than the high street bank's online quotes I checked though.

I doubt that many people will get better rates than the Apple deal.

I might be getting some finance from the bank with the wedding coming up fast (I think the saving will fall short  ) so I could stick some extra on for the Mac @ 7.9%

I ACCIDENTALLY AN IMAC!!!!!!!!!!

The deed is done. Order has been placed with an estimated (and I'm presuming it wont come then) delivery date of 11th May

27" iMac, 3.1GHz i5, 4GB RAM, 6870M 1GB i.e. no added upgrades but I am placing an order with Crucial for 4GB
Edifier Prisma E3350 2.1 Speakers

Used a link provided (thanks ;) ) for the education discount as Nicola is studying for a cardiology degree (masters?) through work (it's a grey area as shes finished her module and the next one isn't starting for a while so she's let her NUS card exprire - do they even check?)

:D :D

Not wanting to get your hopes up, but with all of my orders Apple has delivered on the estimated day or earlier. My MacBook was two weeks early IIRC...
