OK, question number 1.

When using Safari in fullscreen mode can you have multiple tabs? Or does each "tab" warrant its own desktop?

CMD - T

No, the fullscreen thing is a bit.. inconsistent to be honest. Full screen apps can still open normal windows in their 'full screen' workspace - for example full screen iTunes can play a video in a normal window in it's 'space' and there's no way to move that window out of that space as far as I know. So it's kind of full screen and not.

The immediate question I've got if anyone has an answer is also on Safari. You now don't have a downloads window at all (it's really, really gone apparently), you have this little widget in the corner with the 'pop up' that shows you what downloads are in progress. If I close the Safari window, does that quit the download(s)? And if not, how do I then find out what the progress of the download is?

Slightly annoying that I now have to download a new version of Xcode.

I was going to tweak my app tonight but it'll now have to wait for another +3GB download!

Since the upgrade to Lion the bit-tech forums don't work correctly in firefox.
I just get a white background with the text on it.
Looks a bit like the early 90's

I only use FF on my work PC now as Safari isn't compatible with our Helpdesk software.

I've got used to Safari on SL and the introduction of fullscreen stuff is very cool with it.

For all those who don't like the new scrolling behaviour...

MacWorld website wrote:
Lion's new scrolling behavior is the same as the iPhone's and iPad's, but it's precisely the opposite of Mac scrolling to date. You'll probably adjust to the new scrolling direction after a bit of use. If you don't (or if you don't want to), you can disable Scroll with Finger Direction on the Scroll & Zoom tab of the Trackpad preference pane.

Mine says" Scroll Direction: Natural Content tracks finger movement"

With the picture showing scrolling down when the finger is pulled down. I have to disable this for it to scroll the old way

2 hours 49 minutes to go...
started last night at about 10.30, because my connection is feeble, it works better when no one else is awake.
The rest of the world woke up and overloaded the server so I had to resume this morning..I hope its worth it :)

Scrolling takes a bit of getting used to - have to keep reminding myself I'm moving the page, not the scroll bars. Gestures have changed too - the three-fingered swipe to go forwards and back through last-page, next-page has changed to a two-fingered swipe, and the direction has changed as well, so a swipe to the left (what I always thought of as backwards) now takes you forwards and vice versa.

Ah, I noticed that something had changed with that but wasn't sure what I had noticed, LOL!

That’s how it is on iOS. There, you are moving the viewport around. It’s a bit like looking at a newspaper through a piece of card with a hold cut in it. To see more of the page, you move the card around. The page itself remains stationary in that conceptual model.

The scrolling is a PITA.

I use Windows, Linux and OS X interchangably all day. Up until now, they all behaved the same way. This makes OS X harder to use, for a non-OS X only user. Found the option to turn it off.

Interestingly, the Login screen now looks like a cross between Windows 7 and Linux... :?

2 updates installed already.

Other than that, I haven't had time to play with it yet. Now that it has finished installing and installing updates, I'll see if the performance has improved...
