After my htc and the iPod Touch, the new screen on the 3GS is brilliant and I haven't needed a cloth to wipe it yet.

Grrr! My iPhone seems to have died!

How do you reset it, if the soft-reset doesn't work (pressing Home + On/Off for more than 1 minute didn't do anything)...

Edit: Just checked MobileMe, the iPhone is coming up as offline, so it looks like it really is dead. :(

Had it on charge in my work laptop for half an hour and still nada...

Edit 2: Checked in MobileMe, showing up as offline.

Ended up calling T-Mobile. I'll have to take it in to the nearest shop, with my invoice, and get it replaced... Given the current 5 week waiting lists for iPhones, that might be "fun"...

Grr! So, drove from work to home, picked up invoice and contract info for iPhone, drove back past the office to the next T-Punkt to hand over the iPhone and it was working again!

No idea what the problem was, I tried the reset at least 10 times before 'phoning T-Mobile, then again before I put it in the box... Then another reset in the T-Punkt shop and it works!

I can't remember where I asked, but when I started my new job, I asked if anybody had used the Exchange ActiveSynch push services with the iPhone...

Saspro said he had and it worked fine...

Well, I finally got my iPhone on Sunday and got around to configuring it today.

Firstly, I blitzed my old Windows Mobile 'phone and synched that up with my work PC and set that up to use the exchange services. It also has the push on.

That worked, in that I could see the e-mail folders etc. appointments and contacts were copied over etc.

I then tried it on my iPhone and it worked first time! Straight out of the box.

BUT, the iPhone has crashed again! The hardware reset doesn't do anything! :(

Is there a way to do a hard reset on the iPhone?

The only reset method I've found is the Home + On/Off for 10 seconds, but that doesn't work for the first hour or so after the iPhone crashes...

That wouldn't work Saspro... That requires actually switching the iPhone off/on. As it won't switch off or on, or allow itself to be rest... :?

MobileMe said it was offline and the PC didn't even register there was anything plugged into the USB port...

I think it is a case of removing the battery, counting to 10 and inserting the battery again, before it would respond... As the battery is sealed into the device, that ain't going to happen!

Taken it back, should get it returned or a replacement sent out within the next 7 days!

Now set up push Exchange Mail on my iPod Touch, works nicely - but of course, the iPod needs to be on and in range of a Wi-Fi spot to work...

As I have MobileMe as well on my iPod and iPhone, it looks like I can't import the contacts from the Exchange server - Mail and Calendar allow multiple accounts, but contacts seems to only use one list.

I guess this wouldn't be a problem for our directors and salesmen, they would be switching from CrackBerry to iPhone, so very unlikely to have a MobileMe account. I also know that MobileMe refuses to synch anything to the cloud (apart from bookmarks and iDisk) if your PC is connected to an exchange server...

Just got an SMS from T-Mobile, my iPhone has arrived in the workshop, they will let me know when it is dispatched...
