Post subject:  How often do you use Windows?
How often do you other Mac users use PeeCee's?

I avoid using Windows whenever I can. When I go to my university library my first choice of machine is always an iMac, followed by a HP running a custom linux distro. If it's particularly busy then I'll make-do with a PC. I always thought this was pretty normal for us Mac types, but now I'm not too sure.

On my website there is a page having a little moan about Image Capture, and obviously it's a very Mac specific page and the stats show that this isn't a page people visit unless they are pointed there from a search engine (literally 100% come from a search engine).

However, 67% of the visitors to that page are using Windows. :? I was surprised to say the least and I can't really think of an explanation except perhaps that people are bored at work so they Google that problem they had the night before from their work PC.

So what's your take on this? How often do you use PC's, and why do you think people are using PC's to search for resolutions to a Mac problem.

I'm struggling to remember when I last used Windows.
The last time I really used it for serious work must be around three years ago...The last time I used it to play games on was last summer I think. I haven't used one since then...

I only work with UNIX now, I don't even touch Linux if I can help it, I don't even readily have access to a Windows machine...Short of visiting some random neighbor I don't know, I don't know of anyone within an hours drive who owns a PC with Windows installed. I still troubleshoot Windows problems for family, though when they upgrade to Vista/Win7, I'll be stuffed...Or rather they will be...
At uni I tend to use the computer science computer room, which has a load of Sun Ray's in it, the Sun Ray servers are running a development release of OpenSolaris at the moment, however that should change sometime soon. At work I use Solaris, the latest development builds, don't really have a choice...At home I'm happy using my Mac :D

My guess about your page is that you have people searching about how to do a screen grab, and they stumble along your page which seems to give the answer they want, but then they find it doesn't...

Yeah I still find myself on the phone at crazy times of the day (read, pre 2pm :lol: ) trying to guide people through XP in order to fix something, when my memory of it is vague to say the least! :lol:

As for the screen grab thing, it's definitely not that. The search strings are clearly to do with the issue I am moaning about on the page. Strings like "image capture no scan button" and "scan button disabled image capture".

I have a Windows PC here in my room.
It's not been switched on for about 3 months. I last used it to convert some video into a .wmv, but I've since got some software for OS X that'll do it, so hopefully I won't need it again.

Every day. I have to use XP at work and I mainly use Vista at home these days. Used the iMac on Saturday, that was the first time I turned it on in about 2 weeks...

I don't personally use Windows on a daily basis, unless you count the ones you open for fresh air.

Best Beloved mucks about with it, because some of the software he uses isn't available on the Mac. He's got an elderly Dell Latitude he picked up for £50, and also runs Parallels on the other MacBook Pro.

We also have a peecee here in the Batcave, which acts as the world's most painful RIP to our humungous inkjet printer. Batman is always cursing the poor thing, and we really need to test the updated Mac drivers for it to see if the WinBox can be retired at some point.

So, I do use Windows, but I'm never completely comfortable with it, having been a Mac user for so long.

Once in a while I reach fir my wife’s work laptop running XP because it happens to be closer to hand. It’s just so horrible, I instantly overcome my inertia and head for the nearest Mac. I simply have no good experiences of Windows and I just can’t understand why anyone would choose to use it.

There's a guy at work who claims he has never used Windows.
He first used a computer at university in the late '90's where he used some form of UNIX, then he came out and started working at Sun where he has always used Solaris...He has a SPARC workstation at home and a Sun Ray to connect to the Sun Ray servers at work...

Personally, I think the fact he has had no exposure to it is amazing.

Every day at work.

It rarely crashes or goes wrong for me nowadays so I'm not complaining.

I have a Windows machine at home that I bought about 2 years ago for about £1700 and use that occasionally for gaming. Although, if I get an XBox 360 I don't think I'll use my PC even for gaming.

I’ve not used Windows since I upgraded Parallels and XP started bitching about needing to be reactivated. Just not plucked up the courage to phone Microsoft yet.

You don't actually talk to anyone, it's just a machine asking you to punch in numbers then it'll read a number back to you...

Well, that was weird. I just started Windows in Parallels ready to activate it by phone, and it just went ahead and activated itself after I chose to do so over the network. I thought it was three activations and then you had to start making calls, which was the implication last time.

I have a self built Window box in the office and since buying my MBP the screen res has been enough to render it a very large paper weight. Shame really I treated it to a 24inch monitor last year and tacked a 17inch onto the side.
