Post subject:  Power option on Win 7 Starter netbook [solved]

I've just tried to change the options for what happens when my wife closes the lid on her Netbook.
The problem is that all the options are greyed out and I can't unlock them. MS's help feature is useless.
The problem is at the moment it's set to sleep. When she clicks shut down, she closes the lid before it shuts down and it goes to sleep. Therefor draining the battery over the next few days before she uses it again.
I don't have any such issues accessing these options on my normal laptop.

How do I unlock these options so I can set it to "do nothing" or "shut down"?

It's a Samsung N210 Plus.

I'm guessing this is a feature you don't get in the Starter Edition?

EDIT: I take it back, this thread looks like it will be useful to you: http://www.sammynetbook.com/forum/threa ... er-Options

Thanks for the welcome and suggestion tonytb. I found your reply just when I was about to post a follow-up saying that I'd stumbled on the answer myself. Samsung's Fast Boot software is the culprit. Enabled by default, it claims to "enable" the system to enter sleep mode whatever the power settings. In fact, it forces sleep mode by pinning all the power-off options except the standard ones on the Start menu. Disabling it released the options

Thanks for the link. I'll give it a try later and see what happens.
