Have Netgear DG834GT - want to connect DLink DIR 825 N Dual Band Extreme. (Great price from Play.com - but they wrongly confirmed it was also modem router!) Understand that I have to set Netgear as 'bridge modem ' but confused as to how to do this via Netgear online setup. Would appreciate advice on how to achieve this?

Just set the netgear to non NAT mode & apply another static IP to the Dlink (if you;ve got one)

Many thanks for your very quick response! Don't have static IP -normal domestic dynamic IP setup (you will see this is not my field!) How do I select a static IP?

You'd need to apply to your isp to get static IP's. 8 usually cost about £5 a month.
Do you just want to use the Dlink as an access point?

Welcome to the forums as well

Thanks again!

Really just wanted to set up Netgear as 'pass through' modem - have 2 PCs hardwired which I will switch to Dlink, mainly wanted latter as Wireless Access point for laptop to speed up internet

In that case here's what you do.
Setup the netgear as normal & turn it's wireless off, make a note of the IP's is issuing (usually 192.168.1.x)
Plug the Dlink WAN port to the netgear LAN port.
Setup Dlink with different IP range to netgear.
Plug PC's into Dlink & use it's wireless.

Draft N won't speed up your internet only file transfers on your network

Thank you muchly! Interested to note your comment re speed - had assumed dual band (or 5Ghz) for gaming would make a difference.......

In theory 5GHz is less congested so will run faster (and won't be effected by your microwave etc) but the limiting factors will still be your ADSL connection.
I've got N at home & connect at 300Mb but I can't download faster than the 20Mb my internet connection is set at,
