Viewing RAW thumbnails in Bridge CS3?

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a preference or setting in Bridge CS3 to view thumbnails of the picture instead of just the RAW icon?

Weirdly, they just show on my home Mac, but on my work Mac I just get the icon. Both are running the same software, just different OS versions (10.6 at home, 10.4 at work - which shouldn't make a difference?).

I'm sure they used to show, but for a while they haven't. It just a pain when trying to sort through shots I've taken in RAW!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Ben

I think that make a difference, since RAW support by the OS is updated regularly (part of the Pro apps updates). You need to check you have the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw installed on your work machine, too.

Ooh - good thinking. I'll try the Camera Raw updater.... mine is a newer camera, and our Adobe software updater doesn't work here (due to stupid work web proxy restrictions) so it could be very out of date. Getting an update from the Adobe site now.

Thanks!

Darn... still no luck. The version I had was compatible with my Camera, and the new CR hasn't jolted it into life.

Strange why it used to work here on my work Mac, but now now? I'm thinking I could use the DNG converter maybe, but that makes even larger files, and will be a pain to have to do each time...

Any other ideas? Is this just OS related?

I don't honestly know. I think ACR is a separate entity from the OS. They both handle RAW in similar ways, but they don't "share".

Have you tried using Image Capture.app? Unfortunately, that will be dependant on the OS RAW interpreter, and 10.4 is pretty old by Apple standards now. :(

Okay - I have, after a bit more digging, managed to fix it – turns out I'd not been putting the plug-in into the correct folder. I think in the past that has worked, but after putting it into the Adobe prefs folder in the root library all is good again...

And yes, 10.4 IS very old... I think we're looking to upgrade soon... sooner the better really!

Thanks anyway for trying to help! Much appreciated. At least you got me on the plug-in route!

Ben
