Hi All,

Have been searching through Apple's Knowledge Base and other places and can't find an answer to this issue.
When I try to empty my trash I get the follwoing error
"The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)."
Has anyone any idea what is going on.

I'm using a MacBookPro 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.6.5

Thanks in advance

Not entirely sure, have you tried securely emptying the Trash? I find that sometimes works over normal emptying...

Trash emptying errors can often be fixed by a restart. I always get "file in use" errors when emptying the trash.

I'm assuming a permissions problem.

I tend to get the 'file in use' error if the Finder's making a preview of the file. A few seconds later it's sorted itself and off it goes.

Have you tried using the Terminal to do it?

From another forum:

Quote:
btw, to empty the trash with the terminal:

open terminal:
cd .Trash
rm -rf *

(if that last one fails put sudo in front of it [ sudo rm -rf ] )

be careful with this command. it will wipe out everything in that directory and any subdirectories without confirmation and without the possibility of retrieval. make sure you are in the correct location before you use it. "think twice, type once."

Thanks Linux_User those terminal commands worked.
Seems it's a problem linked with Time Machine, hopefully Apple fix it soon.

Thanks again.
