Epic games are going to be releasing their latest iPhone game tomorrow!
It uses the Unreal 3 engine and the tech has had a preview app called Epic Citadel released a few months ago.
This looks so good that it's hard to believe it's on an iPhone.
I think it'll be £3.49 (IIRC) for the app but it's one that is well worth buying. Especially if you have an iPhone 4.

It is remarkable what they have managed to achieve on a fricking mobile phone! The game is very good also. It's a kind of point and click choose your own adventure type game (i.e. you choose if you go left or right etc... Not sure if the animation is then pre-rendered though? Possibly not as you can upgrade armour and weapons so presumably the animations of you walking around can't be prerendered as that would require thousands of retakes. The gameplay (i.e. actual fighting) is very responsive if a bit reptetive but it looks gorgeous.

To be fair, that mobile phone has a 1GHZ CPU, a dedicated graphics processor and 512MB of RAM. I've bought PCs in the fairly recent past (in the grand scheme of things) that had a worse spec than that. Jon

I hadn't thought of it that way. Just looked up the minimum specs for FarCry... Title: Far Cry Distributor: Ubi Soft Supported OS: Windows 98SE/2000/XP Minimum Specs: 1GHz Processor 256 MB RAM 64 MB DirectX® 9.0b-compatible graphics card 4x DVD-ROM 4GB Free Space The iPhone 4 blasts the specs out of the algorithmically produced water

Looking at the "coming soon" section reveals that more items, areas and even online multiplayer are around the corner.
I find it improves a lot if you think of it as a rpg beat em up a bit like soul blade. Think of street fighter: enemies are always the same, locations are always the same. This just adds gorgeous graphics and rpg elements. Would be nice if they expanded the rpg side to include customisation etc...
