Which log file do I need to check, to see why my iMac reboots / logs me off when I am not using it - about 10 minutes after the screen blanks, the machine seems to either log me off or reboot (I don't get the reboot sound, but all open apps and documents are closed and I get the log on dialog, as opposed to the unlock dialog). |

I'd check the Security section of Preferences. Under the General tab, is it set to log out after a period of inactivity? |

If that's not it, try removing the Power Management preference file, here... Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration > com.apple.PowerManagement.plist ...it's been known for this file to become corrupt occasionally. Also, try resetting the P-RAM, by restarting with the following keys held down: Command + Alt + P + R Keep them held down until the third startup chimes, then release. (though I'm sure you've probably already tried this) I would imagine the log file you need to check is the "system" one. |

Thanks Heather, that solved it! I've never seen that option and it only started doing it about a month or so ago... ![]() |
