Just got myself 2 x Opteron 8216 processors and have option of 2 more making 4 in total so thinking of building a folding rig using them.

The 8216 seem to be dual-core processors using Socket F so any suggestions on suitable motherboard - EATX size?

+1 unfortunately. I've been unable to find anything else.

There's 6 or so hours left to go on the bay for one. From the States so you'd have to find out about postage. clicky. Only one bid at around £60 at the mo.

Dunno if that's any use.

Had a quick look and it is not standard E-ATX size - it fits wrong way round so it is deeper than longer - also seems to use a funny power arrangement - a 16pin and 18pin connections.

Found more about it here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/sho ... p?t=258619

Thanks for finding it though.

Ah right. TBH I don't know anything about socket F and optimus primes, or whatever they're called. :D

Thought I'd mention it though. ;)

Google suggest a Tyan Thunder K8QS - S4880 motherboard would be the job... if you can find one for sale.
Not much help really.

Thanks but that Tyan is only suitable for Opteron 800 series not the 8000 series. That link is useful however as it lists the Tyan n4250QE as being suitable http://www.tyan.com/archive/products/ht ... 250qe.html

Now if I can find one!
