OK, I've built a fair few machines in my lifetime, but they never, ever end up as tidy as some of the results I've seen on here. In fact, they can be a bit of a mess, esp. with extraneous cable to try and hide or the cable is too short to do anything with and just hovers over the motherboard. So what's your secret, everyone? I've already tried modular power supplies and putting SATA cables etc through the side of the case, what's next? ![]() |

Cable ties are definitely the way forward for running neater cables. It rather depends on how much work you actually want to put in of course. |

Yup, black cable ties. Mind you a good case with holes for cabling makes the biggest difference. That and a modular PSU. |

Ideally, a case with plenty of space behind the motherboard tray too. As already stated, cable ties FTW. |

Modular cables, use extension leads where needed, cable ties, cable wrap and lots of time |

I always try and get as many cables behind the MB (lay flat and insulate tape them) or its tray as possible, then comes the art making the cables bend into the look of the whole setup with cable ties and sleeves etc and good routing around the case. Depending on the time you’re willing to put towards a tidy case and the forward planning is how the result will look imo. |

I prefer cable wrap to ties, myself. But as long as it's kept together. However, IMHO case choice is a HUGE factor. Some cases just make it really difficult to make things tidy, others really help the process. |
